Supplies:

supplies for making a child's turkey headband

All the supplies for this super simple craft can be found in the craft aisle at Walmart or any of your local craft stores. Super basic and inexpensive the supplies for this turkey headband craft shouldn’t cost you much!

  • Foam craft sheets- I like the use of foam in this project because it makes the headband last longer. If you don’t have foam on hand and can’t make it to the craft store you can use construction paper. *See the alternative instructions below
  • Elastic String- I like how this headband is fastened with an elastic string, it keeps the headband more securely on a child’s head.
  • Foam glue or glue dots- You’ll need some type of adhesive that works with foam to put this turkey headband craft together. I recommend foam glue because sometimes the glue dots can be larger than the cut pieces. If you find yourself without either just use a hot glue gun.
  • Wiggly Eyes- They usually come in a bag with multiple sizes.
  • Faux Feathers- We used primary colors for our turkey feathers, but the options are endless! 🙂

Alternative to Foam: Construction Paper Turkey Headband

If you don’t have foam sheets don’t fear! You can easily make this with construction paper. It may not last as long, but it will still be a fun craft for the kids!

You’ll just need construction paper instead of foam sheets and Elmer’s school glue or tape instead of foam glue. The biggest change to the instructions is to cut a brown strip of paper 2” but the length around your child’s head instead of by 8”.

In the construction paper turkey headband you won’t be using an elastic string to tie the back. After putting the turkey together you will just staple, tape or glue the back of the long strip of brown construction paper to the size of your child’s head as the last step of the project.

All the other instructions for making this turkey headband craft will be the same for the foam or construction paper. See all the instructions below.
