How to make your squid craft

STEP 1: Gather up your supplies

First things first – gather up all the supplies you need. If you don’t normally do this, you need to! It makes the process much easier. In case you haven’t got your squid template yet, you can scroll down to grab that for free.

STEP 2: Prepare the squid template

Next, you’ll need to prepare your template by printing each piece out on the appropriate colored papers and cutting them out. The squid goes on purple paper and the eyes will be printed out on white. For some extra fun, grab a few different shades of purple to print the tentacles on!

Or, you can print it on white cardstock and color or paint the squid template. You can even play with different colors! Just have fun with it.

STEP 3: Assemble your squid

Now to put your squid together! Start by gluing the body pieces together and then glue the tentacles in a fun arrangement, as shown below. Optionally, cut out and colour some bubbles to add to your paper craft.

STEP 4: Paint the ocean

Grab a piece of white paper and paint it with blue watercolours in different shades! See what different shapes and swirls you can make. Once you’re done, set it aside and allow time to dry.

The best type of paper to use for this part of your squid craft is watercolor paper. Cover the paper with a thin layer of water before adding your blue watercolor paint for a fun effect.

STEP 5: Finalize your squid craft

Once the painted ocean had dried glue down your squid (and bubbles, if you made some). Your squid paper craft is now complete!
