Celebrate Independence Day with a fun and easy craft that’s perfect for kids of all ages! Our paper plate Fourth of July flag craft combines creativity with patriotism, making it the perfect craft for home or school celebrations.
Using simple materials like a paper plate and streamers we created this adorable flag that makes a great addition to any 4th of July decorations!
Let’s get started and make this holiday memorable with a burst of red, white, and blue creativity!
Materials Needed
- Paper plate
- Scissors
- Blue paint
- Paint brush
- Red and white streamers
- Double sided tape
- Hole punch
- String
- White stars
How to Make A Paper Plate Fourth of July Flag Craft
- Fold and cut a white paper plate in half. Paint one half blue. Save the other half for another craft. Once the half is painted, set it aside to dry.
- Cut white and red streamers between 12 and 15 inches long. You will need about three of each. Enough to cover the length of the paper plate.
- Once the paper plate is dry, measure and cut a piece of double sided tape and stick it on to the bottom or straight edge of the paper plate.
- Stick alternating red and white streamers in the double sided tape on the bottom of the plate.
- Cut 5 or 6 small white stars from white printer or construction paper. Stick them on the blue flag.
- Using a hole punch punch a hole at the very top of the paper plate flag. Tie a piece of string through the hole. Hang your flag in a protected area outside where the wind can catch the streamers

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 aired in August 2023! My show was also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.
In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.
