Origami Bear Corner Bookmark
Origami is a fantastic craft and incredible activity kids can do independently once they learn the basics. Origami teaches patience and concentration as kids follow step-by-step instructions to create intricate folds. It’s like a puzzle that brings joy and satisfaction once completed, but much easier to keep around. Origami enhances fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, making it a valuable developmental exercise.
Origami is also pretty inexpensive. You only need simple craft supplies like construction or origami paper, which won’t break the bank. It’s easy to find these basic supplies at any craft store.
The best part about origami is that your kids can proudly display their creations or share them as thoughtful gifts. So gather those papers, let your creativity soar, and enjoy the exciting world of origami with your little artists!
Bear Bookmark Supplies
You can purchase specific origami paper cut into perfect squares to make origami crafts. The squares vary in size. For the bear, we used 7″ paper. You can also use any light paper and cut it down to size. Origami paper is easy to find online or at craft stores.

Make an Origami Corner Bookmark
The first step to making your bear is to make an origami corner bookmark with brown paper.
You can make additional bookmarks using different paper colors if you feel creative. It’s a great way to personalize your reading experience and switch things up whenever possible.
Make the Bear’s Face
Now that your basic corner bookmark is made, it’s time to add that cute bear.
Make the bear’s ears from construction paper. We didn’t use a pattern for this. We just winged it. Start by cutting two small half circles from the brown paper you used for the pocket. Then, cut white construction paper into two half circles slightly smaller than the brown paper. The white is the inside of the ear.
Glue the white circles on top of the brown ones.
Then, glue the ears to the backside of the pocket, as shown.
Make the bear’s eyes by cutting 2 circles out of the white paper. Use a black marker to color in black circles, leaving a small white dot for the pupils. You could also use black construction paper to make the black part of the eyes.
Glue one eye on either side of the fold on the front of the pocket.
Finally, draw the bear’s nose and mouth with a black pen.
So there you have it—an easy way to create your very own origami corner bookmarks. They’re practical and stylish, and add a nice touch to your reading adventures. Enjoy marking your pages in a fun and unique way!
