What You’ll Need

  • Red and white pipe cleaners
  • Red and white pony beads
  • Red and white straws (optional)

How to make Canada Day Bracelets

  1. Take one pipe cleaner. If it’s too long, you can trim it to fit your wrist better, but make sure it’s long enough to go around your wrist and leave a little extra to twist together at the end.
  2. If you’re pony beads are all mixed up, have your child hep sort out the red and white beads into piles.
  1. Start by adding a red pony bead to the pipe cleaner. Push it all the way to the end, but leave a little bit of pipe cleaner sticking out so the bead doesn’t fall off.
  2. Now, add a white pony bead next to the red one. Keep alternating red and white beads to create a pattern. If you want, you can do two reds, then two whites, or any pattern you like.
  3. Continue adding beads until the pipe cleaner is almost full. Leave a little bit of space at the end, just like you did at the beginning.
  4. Once you’ve added enough beads, wrap the beaded pipe cleaner around your wrist to make sure it fits. Adjust the beads if needed to make it comfortable.
  1. When you’re happy with the fit, twist the two ends of the pipe cleaner together to close the bracelet. Make sure it’s secure so it doesn’t come apart.
  2. If there’s too much extra pipe cleaner sticking out after you twist it, you can use scissors to carefully trim the ends. Ask an adult for help if you need it. Now time to make at least two more so that you have a stack of Canada Day bracelets!
  3. Put your new Canada Day bracelet.

TV Show: Curious Crafting

I’m so excited to share my crafting TV show Curious Crafting which launched in July 2022 on TVOkids and TVOkids YouTube! Season 2 aired in August 2023! My show was also nominated in 2023 for Best Live Action Preschool Series by the Youth Media Alliance Awards of Excellence.

Curious Crafting Season 1 is also now airing in Australia on ABC! Watch it here!

Set in the ultimate crafting space, Curious Crafting is a short form pre-school age series about the joy of making crafts. I lead a rotating cast of adorable little preschoolers (including my own) making magic out of common household objects.

In each episode we transform recycled items into magical crafts like a milk carton school bus, paper bag puppet or cotton pad turtle. The crafters learn and laugh their way through each activity while demonstrating what their young imaginations can create.

Curious Crafting shares the adventure and joy of making art with takeaway lessons for creating crafts at home.

This show designed for toddlers and preschoolers 2.5 years old and up.
