DIY Flower Boxes With Chalk Couture

DIY Flower Boxes With Chalk Couture is an easy project that transformed thrift store Christmas items into beautiful decor for spring and summer.

These DIY flower boxes were so easy to make with Chalk Couture transfers and Chalkology Paste!

I picked up these wood boxes at a thrift store for 75% off after Christmas. I didn’t like the “JOY” sign on them, but loved the reclaimed wood of the boxes and knew I could turn them into something amazing. The reclaimed wood is beautiful and they needed to be turned into something great. And, since I got them after Christmas, I was over the Christmas decor and ready to move onto some spring decor and projects.

The Easy Steps For Making These DIY Flower Boxes:

The first thing I had to do was remove the wood “JOY” signs off the front. I thought they were just wired on there, but there was some kind of adhesive on the back. I cut off the wire that was holding the greenery and used my small putty knife to get the sign off.

Once the sign was off, there was some residue left behind. My heat gun took all of that right off. If you don’t have a heat gun, I highly recommend it. I use mine for so many different projects. One of my favorites is the DIY Wood Burned Christmas Tree Garland I made at Christmas.

Once I had all of the residue off, it was time to make the signs.

I thought I was going to put the sign on the front where the “JOY” sign was, but when I was playing around with the transfers, I loved the way they looked on the inside back of the boxes.

This video will show you how easy it was to create the DIY flower boxes.

After I did the first box, I wanted to make the second one look more aged and like it has been around for some time. I didn’t stick the transfer on there as tight and held the transfer in place as I applied the paste.

I am so pleased with the outcome! These will be so pretty during spring and summer. I am not good at keeping plants alive inside, so my faux plants and flowers will have to do the trick. I would like to boxes hung on a wall too! They are great for storing all kinds of things!

How would you use them?
