This quintessential fall activity inspired a fun and creative project to do with kids! When kids make this apple tree name craft, they’ll create an apple tree, but with a personalized twist – each apple will spell out a letter of their name!

It’s a great way for little ones to practice spelling and end up with a personalized piece of art that celebrates the season.

We’ve included a free, editable template where you can type in your child’s name before printing. This lets kids focus on letter recognition as they pick out the letters to spell their names. Or, for an extra challenge, leave the apples blank and let kids write their names by hand!

Directions

Start by downloading the template and printing it out. Once you have the template printed, gather the materials needed for this fun activity. Get those scissors ready, and let’s help the kids bring this apple tree to life!

First, guide your child to glue the leaves to the top portion of the trunk.

Next, glue the apple letters to the center of the leaves to spell out the child’s name.

Now, help your child draw the stem to the top of each apple.

Use a marker to draw a hole in the trunk of the tree.

Finally, encourage your child to draw the leaves around the tree.

Instructions

  1. Download the tree template, print it, and cut out the pieces you need.
  2. Begin by gluing the leaves to the top portion of the trunk.
  3. Next, glue your apple letters in the middle of the tree to spell your child’s name.
  4. Now, draw a stem on top of each apple.
  5. Use a brown marker to draw a hole in the tree trunk.
  6. Finish off by drawing the leaves around the tree.
