Easy Fall Crafts for Kids
One of my all-time favourite fall crafts to make with kids are these glittered fall leaves. We use our easy 3-ingredient clay dough for the leaves, and then we decorate them in fall-coloured glitter. Display them on your fall dinner table, or hang them from a small branch in a vase. They’re beautiful!
This Thankful tree uses the same recipe as our glittered leaves, but you’ll decorate them with paint instead of glitter, and you’ll write things that you’re grateful for on each leaf. You can make a lovely centrepiece for your Thanksgiving table this way.
Kids can make this gorgeous fall suncatcher for home or the classroom. All you need is a plastic milk jug and some Sharpie markers! Then head out on a hunt to find the perfect stick to hang your colourful fall leaves from!
Fall Leaf Napkin Rings. We used a really cool (but easy) paint process to make these fall leaf napkin rings. They’ll look sweet sitting on your Thanksgiving dinner table, or for any family dinner celebration this fall.
Toddlers and preschoolers will love crumpling vibrant pieces of tissue paper to make the colourful leaves for this pretty fall wreath. Hang it on the door of your home or classroom to welcome in the fall season.
Here’s another gorgeous fall art project for kids to make. Gather up the broken crayons, and turn them into this melted crayon fall tree. The process is so cool, and you can display it in your home or classroom for the whole autumn season because it holds up really well. Ours has been hanging on the art wall of our playroom for over a year now!
Add a pop of colour to a window with this fall leaf tissue paper sticky window activity. You don’t even need contact paper to do it!
Some people feel that owls and fall go hand in hand together. I’m not sure of the reason, but regardless, these painted paper plate owls made with fabric scraps are adorable.
This is a fun fine motor activity for kids to do this fall. Use textured wallpaper samples to make fall leaf lacing cards for toddler and preschoolers to practice their early sewing skills with..
Here’s another gorgeous fall wreath for kids to make. For this one, you just need a paper bag and some artificial flowers from the dollar store!
Another owl craft because owls and fall go hand in hand together. Buttons and gems and fabric scraps were used to make these adorable toilet roll owls. These guys are so cute, the kids will want to make them all year round.
One of my favourite things to do with my daycare kids in Fall is to go for a nature walk, and collect fall leaves, flowers and grasses from around the yard and neighbourhood. Then we come back, and make gorgeous fall collages with our findings. I especially love the technique we used to make the backdrop in fall colours. It’s a really fun and easy paint-technique that’s virtually mess-free!
Make a fall mobile with tin foil and Sharpies. The kids will love the process, and it will look so pretty displayed in your home this autumn.
Another fun thing to make with the things your kids find on a fall nature walk is this Autumn sun catcher. It’s great sensory activity and a fun way to explore the colours and textures of fall.
Take preschoolers on a fun fall outing to an apple orchard, and do some crafting with a few of those apples when you get home. The hooligans love stamping with apples, and for this project, we chose paints in fall colours to make our art.
Do your kids love making handprint crafts? Here’s a super collection of fall handprint crafts for toddlers and preschoolers to make!
Make some upcycled owls out of corks, buttons and fabric scraps!
Turn a cardboard roll and some paint sample cards into a turkey table topper for your Thanksgiving dinner.
Golf ball painting is a ton of fun, and when you use fall colours, you can make a great backdrop for an autumn collage.
A toilet roll and some buttons make a very cute Halloween owl or crow.
Scrape painting with a credit card is a fun way for kids to blend colours. We’ve used our artwork as a canvas for a nature collage.
Make apple prints with apples and real leaves from the garden.
