❤️ Why You’ll Love This Recipe

I love serving this snack mix at parties because it’s popular with both kids and adults. It’s also good to serve for a scary movie night.

This recipe is a great grab-and-go snack and a delicious homemade treat for classroom parties. (Be sure you grab the printable Halloween treat bag labels I created to go along with this recipe.)

As you’ll see in the recipe video below, this Halloween party mix is quick and simple to make with minimal ingredients. Things can get a tad messy when you’re adding the melted white chocolate — but maybe that’s just me!

My recipe is adapted from a Halloween Chex Mix recipe. But instead of using three different types of cereal, I use Crispix rice-and-corn squares, or the store brand equivalent. That makes it much more budget friendly!

🎃 Ingredients for Halloween Snack Mix

For this recipe, you will need these ingredients:

Crispix cereal, pretzels, raisins, white chocolate chips, candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins on a kitchen counter
  • Corn and rice cereal
  • Mini pretzel twists
  • Raisins
  • Candy corn (I like Brach’s candy corn the best.)
  • Mellowcreme pumpkins
  • White chocolate chips

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

Combine cereal, pretzels, raisins, candy corn and candy pumpkins in a large bowl. Stir gently.

Melt the white chocolate in the microwave, following the instructions on the packet, to ensure it doesn’t burn.

When the white chocolate has melted, pour it over the cereal mixture. Stir gently to coat.

Transfer the candy-coated snack mix to a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper.

Spread into a single layer and allow to cool.

Once the chocolate has hardened, break up any large pieces of the snack mix.

Cook’s Tip: Make sure to use a large bowl to make this snack mix. You want plenty of room to work when you’re stirring in the melted white chocolate.

Variations & Substitutions

This recipe is very adaptable, based on your preferences and ingredients you have on hand.

  • Substitute corn Chex cereal and rice Chex cereal for the Crispix.
  • Use pretzel sticks or fun Halloween holiday shaped pretzels.
  • Swap Bugles for the pretzels in this recipe, or use a mix.
  • Use white baking chocolate or candy melts instead of white chocolate chips.
  • Substitute dried cranberries, dried cherries or dried blueberries for the raisins.
  • Toss in some candy eyeballs or candy ghosts for a spookier presentation.
  • Add M&M’s or Reese’s pieces to the mix.

Storage

Store prepared Halloween snack mix in an airtight container for up to a week.

If you’re planning to package it into individual treat bags, wait to fill them until the day of or the day before your party. This will ensure the Halloween snack mix stays fresh.

Treat Bag Labels

I created these cute-as-a-button printable labels to go along with the recipe. (You can also use these for other Halloween sweet treats.)

I added the labels to some cute striped treat bags I had on hand, but they also work on cellophane treat bags or any small bags you find.

The labels are 2.75 inches square and print nine to a sheet of letter-sized paper. I printed mine on full sheet adhesive mailing labels and cut them out with a paper trimmer. But they also work on these diskette label sheets from Online Labels.
