Unicorn Bookmarks
How cute are these little unicorn bookmarks? Who doesn’t love a cute unicorn? Origami is a great craft for kids and so cute as a unicorn. Once they learn basic folds, they can create origami projects independently. The step by step instructions used in origami helps kids learn patience and concentration. Origami is like a hands-on mystery that brings joy and satisfaction once completed. Origami enhances fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, making it a valuable developmental exercise.
The great thing about these unicorn bookmarks is that the bookmark pocket is folded the same way. Once kids learn how to create the pocket that forms the bookmark, they can decorate it any way they want.
Origami is also pretty inexpensive. You only need simple craft supplies like construction or origami paper, which won’t break the bank. It’s easy to find these basic supplies at any craft store.
The best part about origami is that your kids can proudly display their creations or share them as thoughtful gifts. These would also be great to make as a unicorn party favor for a unicorn birthday party! So gather those papers, let your creativity soar, and enjoy the exciting world of origami with your little artists!

Make an Origami Corner Bookmark
First, you need to make an origami corner bookmark in the color of your choice. We made ours in white, but your unicorn can be any color you like.
If you feel creative, you can use this same corner bookmark repeatedly to make additional bookmarks using different paper colors. It’s a great way to personalize your reading experience and switch things up whenever you want.
Make the unicorn.
Now that your bookmark pocket is made, it’s time to make it into a magical unicorn.
Download and then cut out the pieces from the Unicorn Bookmark Pattern sheet.
Trace the unicorn parts onto colored origami or construction paper. You can use any colors you want. We used:
- Yellow for the unicorn’s horn
- Pink for the inside of the unicorn’s ears
- White for the outside of the unicorn’s ears
- Lavendar for the middle of the unicorn’s mane
- Blue for the sides of the unicorn’s mane
Cut out the parts carefully with scissors.
Next, glue the inside of the ears to the outside parts. Set aside to dry.
Use a black pen to draw curved lines upwards on the unicorn’s horn.
Glue the ears to the inside of the origami corner bookmark pocket. Glue one on each side. Then glue the unicorn’s horn in the middle between the ears.
Add the unicorn’s mane by gluing the three mane pieces on the front of the corner pocket. We did 2 blue on the sides and lavender in the middle.
Grab a thin black marker and draw on the unicorn’s eyes and mouth.
You can cut out two small ovals from the pink paper and glue them on as cheeks.
Your unicorn bookmark is ready to go on magical reading adventures.
